Care for Guildford

We are a good neighbour scheme, a network of volunteers helping local people who cannot get out and about on their own.

The type and demand for services has changed over the years and today we maintain some 100 volunteers helping Guildfordians in need

These days, transport to GP surgeries, clinics, dentists and hospitals are the main tasks we undertake. But we also do shopping on behalf of a client or doing small one off jobs in the home like putting up shelves or changing light bulbs.

We provide a number of services that include:

Transport

Lifts to Doctors Surgeries, Dentists, Clinics, Clubs and Day Centres. We can also take you to Hospitals and to visit relatives in nursing homes. We do not go to hairdressers

Shopping

We shop on a weekly or fortnightly basis for anyone who is housebound. We can also shop on a temporary basis, for example when someone first comes out of hospital.

Odd Jobs

We help with small one off jobs around the home. Maybe putting up shelves or curtain rails, moving heavy furniture or even changing a light bulb for those less able to reach We cannot undertake housework, plumbing, gardening or electrical repairs.
